| Just want to resurrect this from the ashes of the Gothic Beauty message boards.
I do have a question. Are there alternative ways of ordering lolita items from Japanese companies other than the company websites? The shipping is incredibly expensive.

| My daugther and I have been going through my collection of G&L Bible to find stuff she likes. If it's something she really wants, I have no problem making her those outfits once she asks me to.
It also turns out that some small businesses are bringing in some imports of lolita garments recently. Mostly within the asian communities or the city's "chinatowns" have some places that have stores that sell some.

| Hmm, I didn't know various Chinatowns were getting a lolita lift. Your daughter is very lucky to have such a cool and creative dad. I just got the newest North American Gothic & Lolita Bible. I'm really enjoying it and figure if anything, I can be inspired by various things and make it myself. It's my own creations at a fraction of the cost. My current project is a lolita/rockabilly dress. I just made a miniature hat to go with it. I will post pictures of the hat soon. BTW, the patterns featured in the aforementioned G&L Bible has patterns for a blouse and skirt. When I saw the blouse, I immediately thought of this picture of Emily Dickinson. That will be a future project--a lolita oufit inspired by her. | |

| I have the first 2 issues of G&L Bible (english versions). Issue 3 is coming in Sept. I love the sound of your project, ooooooh I wanna see pics, pics, pics. . Inspiration boosts creativity for sure, I have sooo many ideas to what I want to make as well. once I manage my time and money on the projects, then it's worth the effort. It's funny how some people say the wearing the ol'victorian style clothing can actually be comfortable. | |

Most of the Japanese Brand shops don't ship to the USA anyway and most people buy through a service like Celga (which seems to be the most popular service). All services charge a fee plus shipping. Sometimes this is the only way to go even though it is more expensive. Hope this answers your question

| Yes, it does, thanks. Here is a picture of me with the hat I made. Still haven't figured out if I want to attach it to a ribbon, elastic, or a headband. My Rustic Lolita Hat | |

| ^Good article; thank you kindly for sharing it Raven! The only thing I didn't like about it was their description of "Black Lolita"... there IS a specific name for Lolitas who aren't quite Gothic Lolitas, but only wear black. (I remember Nika specifying the different names in the old thread)...Really, they should do their research! |

My Rustic Lolita Hat It's so cute! Add a poufy dress and a picnic lunch, and it's the first scene in Gone With the Wind all over again! (This is also the first picture we've ever seen of you! You pretty thing!) |

You mean Kuro~loli. Wich makes the article's author title "black lolita" correct, since that is exactly what it means. But I got your point. You can go take a look to all different styles over here if you want to~~ Lolita Handbook, Styles.

| I have wonderful news. I submitted a poem (some of you have read it) to the Gothic & Lolita Bible vol. 2, and it won a prize! I'm not sure what exactly it is yet, but I do know it's a randomly chosen accessory from one of the Japanese gothic & lolita brands. I haven't won a contest since I was six. | |

| Thanks, everyone! I will keep you posted about the contest and the poem. I feel just like Ralphie's dad did in A Christmas Story when he wins his "major award." | |

| No, that is the "major award" in A Christmas Story. That would've been really funny, however. Here's the movie clip. Major AwardA joke common in the U.S. | |
