I feel Happy

Boss will be out for the remainder of the week. Going to take a 2 hour lunch tomorrow and use up my gift cards.

I got a holiday bonus at work. $100. I really really needed those few extra dollars, too.

I went to go see my psychic the other day. She told me a lot of things that made me feel good about myself and the future. Let's hope she is right and things go well.

I hate to burst your bubble but you pretty much pay them to make you feel good about yourself; not many psychics are going to tell someone they are a piece of sh*t and their future is going to be in a gutter. That made me think. Someone goes to a psychic they pay the 10$ and get. "when you leave here you'll step in a dog poo, it has a nail in it and since you're wearing flip-flops the nail goes right through, you'll be losing that foot. Oh and you'll be dying alone, the two arent connected but you're such a miserable SOB they might as well be"

Please don't take this the wrong way, but I don't pay her to make me feel all warm and happy inside. She has actually sat there and chewed me out for being stupid. I don't know what you believe. I don't think all psychics are correct and I don't think they are all folly either. I know what this woman tells me are things no other person would be able to know besides people that are already dead. When she was able to give me that information, I trusted her. So even if you don't believe in that sort of thing, please don't write off that she is some phoney telling me made up lies.

Maybe it was that narcotic pain killers I've been taking, but I had a really good time last night at my friend's new year's eve party. She invited 9 of us to a seafood restaurant in Westchester. The food was really good and I didn't feel like punching anyone in the throat by the end of the night.

There are plenty of shistey psychics, but the good ones are more like unliscenced psychologists. Down here in Texas I've known people (usually Latina/o or German, which covers a lot of the natives and many of my friends) who go to a psychic or witch or Woman of Santeria. A lot of the minority community mistrusts shrinks, but they'll talk to these mystics and get a similar experience to the one a achieve in therapy. That's given me a bit more faith in one's long-term relationship with a psychic. My own psychiatrist has asked if I have a family member, friend, or religious leader I can confide in other than her. I do, but many of us don't have that and a good (again, emphasis on good) psychic can play that role. Sometimes just by telling your story of what you want to see in the future you better understand what you want without even gaining her input. I often conduct a process of elimination in my own life, in which I have a binary choice and pretend that a psychic or priest has said I must follow one option. When that rankles me I know that I need to further pursue the other option and tell the mystical to f- itself. When it jives with me I know I was going with my gut from the get-go. I do believe it's possible to be a practical, scientific person and still see a psychic, which I know may seem illogical. I think we're strongest when we have full self-knowledge. If DCGG gains that in the home of her psychic, let her have that strength. My own opinions on what she should do (which I do have) are likely less informed than those of the woman she confides in regularly. All of us can agree that mental abuse and manipulation are never cool, whether it comes from a psychic or an unworthy man, but I'm going to give this the benefit of the doubt that DCGG is learning how valuable she is (which she is) and that the psychic is helping.

I just got an ide/sata-to-usb cable. It's allowed me to recover pics from England, a novel I worked on for 10 years, academic papers, the notes for my thesis, poetry, and 250 GBs worth of other stuff I thought was lost forever. I'm over the moon right now!

My "tenant" finally paid his "rent". I had to pester him constantly, though.

My husband will be joining me in Miami on Friday and will be staying with me for 4 days. Woohoo!

Secondary benefit is that I get to lose my "tenant" for those 4 days. I made him book another room for the weekend. I really need a break from that guy!

The Mr. and his friend flew in to Miami last night to join me for the weekend. And I finally got a good night's sleep because neither of them snore.

One more day! One day more! The residency ends tomorrow morning!


AND, I found someone (not my 'tenant") with whom to share a cab.

I have an interview for a travel agency company tomorrow and an interview for a photography studio on Saturday. I really want the photography studio position, but it's a bit farther than I'd like to drive If I can get full time from it, then it'd be easier for me to move out. My life feels like the epitome of a catch 22.
