| They're opening up a Michael's near me, the first one in the Bronx, but they're taking their sweet a$$ time doing it. I believe it's scheduled to open later on this month. I can't wait!!! I noticed Target started putting up their Hallowen stuff. | |

| Halloween is coming,
And I think I might just be able to cross another number off my list of "Things To Do Before You Die". In the works is the Quinton Tarantino Party; where all the attendees have to dress as characters from Quentin Tarantino films, they even did this on the Gilmore Girls. Which made me happy yet sad, when I saw it I realized they had did it before I could get my idea to become a reality, and thus others would follow their lead.
But who cares....
He's made another two films since then, so there's more characters to be. I'm probably going to be Stunt Man Mike, and I'm looking to get my public lapdance out of it from somebody.
That and I have backstage passes to the Misfits show on Hallow's Eve.

| ^^ Aw no... Yeah, the cards are kind of getting my mind off stressful things. But that's true of most creative endeavors, I think. | |

Same here, they are my break from school work and starbucks! I am acctually going to get the supplies either today or tommorow from Micheal's! Granted, Micheal's isn't as good as Hobby Lobby, but I don't care, It's going to be fun to acctually do something creative agian!

Sorry I missed this! Six people hon, which I think is a nice number - not as good as seven but still nice. And Diva, I have compiled the list but in a fit of stooopid left the list at work. I'll email everyone at some point tomorrow depending on when Elvis leaves the building for lunch

| Only six? I bought a lot more stuff than needed then. (Heck I bought alot more than needed for 20 people, I couldn't help myself!) Oh well, I guess random people are going to be getting halloween cards then! | |

| ^^ hehe, I went a little nuts with supplies, too! But six is fine. I've only got about six solid ideas cooked up so far... the rest were half-baked ideas. Maybe they'll finish baking by Halloween. Or maybe I'll just stick random leftover Halloween stickers on my clients' framing projects. | |

| ^sorry I didn't reply sooner! Count Emmy in! Speak of Halloween Creativity, and forgive me if this is a bit too cheeky, but this is the shared, communal stairwell in the Edwardian house turned 5-plex that I lease a unit in: It's hard to make out, but the wreath is covered in purple foil bats, the tinsel around the banister has pumpkins in it, the black tinsel up on the ceiling has silver bats, the wine-bottle vase says "evil" upside down, and purple string-lights go all the way down the banister. I'm quite proud... no word yet on what my neighbors' parents, who came over yesterday, think of the whole thing. | |

| ^one theory of how to work it: go to hobby lobby, michaels, or whatever. buy the fattest wire on the jewelry aisle, either gold or silver leaves/"greenery" and either gold or silver manipulatable ribbon- the kind with little wires in the sides. Put your hair in about 10 random braids. Weave one of the jewelry wires through each braid. Wrap the ribbon solidly around each braid, cut the ribbon and twist its end around the end of the braid. Bend each braid into the stick-up shape you want. Fold a bit of the bendy ribbon onto itself into a triangle. Cut it and fold the end in on itself. Hot clue little two green/red rhinestone eyes onto the top of each triangle. If you're going to be dancing wrap the ends of the wires- on your hair and inside the triangles- around each others. If not, just shoving the scratchy ribbon triangles onto the pokey ends of your braids might be enough. But you still have the problem of how the top of your head looks awkward with the ribbon wrapped briaids. Shove sprigs of the gold/silver greenery into your braided hair, covering up the spots where the ribbon starts: The Grecien laurel wreath reinvisioned!
Anyway, that's how this crafty soul would do it! I hope my theory works in real life!

| ^^I have. there really aren't a lot of people that have decorated. I think that is another reason why I'm so behind on my halloween cards. I just haven't felt the spirit of it this year. | |

| I've not seen very many myself, but it's always been that way around here. You'll have a few that put out a jack o'lantern or two and a cobweb here or there. There's maybe been one or two residents that go all out in past years.
I don't know if it's because of the lack of joy going around due to the economy etc.. or people just aren't full into Halloween as they used to be. Some, not wanting to be thought of as "included" in on the trick -or- treat portion of the holiday might not decorate.
I've noticed a big difference in Halloween merchandise offered this year. There wasn't as much of it and there really wasn't anything outstandingly new or different. Again it might be that people are spending more on candy, although I read an article last night that candy sales were down too.
And.. unless your one to live or die for Halloween all year round, from what I've seen, most people that are decorating any at all are in nieborhoods where there are a number of children being waited upon to knock on the door.
