Some of the songs & poems I've been working on over the last few years, that hopefully will be in a little collection to be printed by the end of this year. Working on getting copyrights and creative property is annoying, so is finding the time with school and work to finish the illustrations.

Goodbye Stranger
“Polaroid unshaken, of a picture perfected undertaken”
Don’t fear the fearsome or the cold, even the brand-new can grow old.
Don’t live each day as if it’s last, or un-fulfillment will creep past.
For every single waning moon, will bring a slightly longer noon.
Don’t fear this brand new story told, even un-fulfillment will grow old.

“I’ll long for you in memories of dreams I never had”
Won’t you let me break you down, with sorrowed whispers and a frown.
Let me rain on you parade, take from you each price you paid
Strip you of dignity and doubt, then deny a way the anger out.
Don’t look at me to answer you, this is cycle we go through.

“Monumental is the truth behind how small we really are”
Will you miss the friends you never had, or all the times even the bad?
Will you miss keeping it inside, to bare intentions meant to hide.
Pray they keep you safe and sound, those above and below the ground.
Pray that someone comes around, when the stranger’s lost & never found.

Goodbye Stranger.

"Untitled"
Pull them away
Then apart
Tearing them only slightly
At first
To prolong it just another breath
The word 'flower'
Meant ‘blood’
Many nights ago
Spoken softly
In words you’d never remember
These petals fall
Pulled away
And apart
Tearing them only slightly
At least
To prolong the beating of a heart

A Man, Amen
The sound of your voice is like music.
How terribly contrived that must sound,
yet how terribly true.
So close are you,
eyes meet,
eyes held.
How your voice sounds like a melody.
To a song I wish I knew.
So close are you,
I wish,
I want.
How I wish to reach out.
Take this melody by the breath.
To revel in this wanting.

I am not at all a decent man.
I am not a man, though I do go masquerading.
I am a coward, dressed up as a wolf.
Dressed up a sheep, only for the show.

The axis for both torment and triumph.
The axis,
for both will turn.
Both may turn for me,
or turn on me.
I find the movement most disagreeable.
I find the desire to fight and conquer,
and I find you.

I find us kept apart.
Kept apart are my actions,
from my intentions.
Kept apart by words,
my word.
My word given, my word held.

The only things I have to offer are weightless.
My love,
It burdens only myself,
failing to reach the intended.
My word.
Bound by it,
bound about the wrist, the neck,
and other delicate places.
Honesty,
Honesty to myself would break my word,
my love.
Honesty is withheld,
is the stronghold.

Now I lay me down to sleep.
And pray my word I can still keep.
If I lie, hearts will break.
I pray the burden I can take.

It's good work. I especially like the last one, its multifaceted quality thanks to the dual meaning of many of the phrases.

A couple thoughts:

You might find more time to work on the publishing project if you could talk with a professor about making it part of a class project. If you're in a writing course, for example, you might be able to talk the prof into letting this project be your big writing assignment for the semester. And if your curriculum is flexible enough, maybe you could even get separate credit for this instead -- maybe 2 extra credits rather than the full 4 of a standard class. My college used to offer an Independent Study program that was largely self-guided; that's how I completed my art major.

About the illustrations: I know you'd probably like to do some or all of them yourself, but you could also get other artists involved -- say, talk to the artists you know, maybe assign 1 or 2 poems to each artist to work on representing them visually. That way, you could also feature a variety of media. I know some folks who do dramatic line-art work, graphic-novel style; I know of someone on deviantart who does some strong figurative work; I'm not a strong draughtsman but I could complete collages and email some pics of them; you could even get some photo work or pics of sculpture in there.

Not trying to make myself a nuisance; just thoughts off the top of my head.

Fair Game
Is there a better way to do this
A faster route
with minimal distraction
I’ll discover it sooner or later
be still, stay quiet
my favorite companion

It’s slipping out of my grasp
how curious
a minor heartache
my wonderful mistake

everyone see’s our future
ignorance is a selected bliss
a common trait we share
for what could be more exquisite
what...
could..
be?

So time is of the essence
just a moment
a moment of truth
I’ve been readied for this
educated
prepared in my youth

There is a better way to do this
yet I'm overwhelmed
and it's all consuming
So I’ve discovered it sooner
I’m still, you’re quiet
my favorite complaining.

So it’s a game then
where our gracious winner
has the option to choose
how the other players suffer
A game that we play
where all is fair
The same as war
Waged with hearts and thoughts
and the distance between them.

So instead of random threads for anything I feel like sharing, this will be the thread I drop them off in for your consideration. We had to do a 30 minute watercolor painting of a model in class last week, I liked the way it came out, so here it is:

Thank you,

This summer break, I'm going to be keeping myself very busy. I normally don't go out much during the summer until it gets dark, so I've already set a group of goals I want to complete before next semester begins.

Finish Collage for my favorite haunt:
The bar I frequent needs a new one, and I'm almost through with it.

Series of Photograph/collages of individual friends:
Starting a series of photos framed in material associated with them.

My book:
Write at least another 150 pages of my story.

Water color:
I'd like to do a series of paintings, at least ten that I'd keep/sell.

That on top of my exercise routine and studying french should keep the brain and body active while I hide in the shade. Anything that turns out really well, I'll be letting all you nice folks get a peak at and hopefully give me some input about them.

Okie-Pokie,

I have a few more silly things to submit, the first being a comical little poem I wrote a few years ago. Hope you like it.

The Great Dud

Should we look back in time, when God was angered by how all Earthly life was wicked, even ladybugs and bunnies.
That all this life should be destroyed, as would the Earth, even these wicked lady bugs and bunnies.
To save two of every animal, Noah built a massive ark, and would then put it to great use.
Only to build an altar and burn the clean beasts and fowls, in praise of God, so how would they reproduce?

I’ve gotten ahead of myself, I apologize.
I do that at times.

Genesis 7:20 states; “15 cubits upward did the water prevail, and the mountains were all covered.”
Yet 15 cubits is only 25 feet, perhaps mountains were smaller back then, and that’s how they were covered.
The Tigris and Euphrates flooded, Mesopotamian mythology in the Epic of Gilgamesh details all of this.
But I assure you that story has nothing in common, with the “Great Flood” of Genesis.

Thanks to Noah; he, his family and all the animals aboard the ark were the only living creatures saved from the sea.
Yet in Genesis 6:4, the Bible tells of Giants. And after the flood, Israelite's; “Saw sons of Aanak” in Numbers 13:33.
Since the Nephilim (or Giants) were not aboard the Ark, how on Earth did they ever survive?
Well perhaps some Nephilim, stood 29 feet, and that’s how they stayed alive.

This next poem was inspired by a nightmare I had; I remember waking up a few years ago and everything was very vivid in the dream, so I wrote the poem right then and there.

Harlot
Upon bare and broken feet she fled.
Through the snow-dusted town square.
Fleeing her occupation’s hazard.
Tearing and swearing, the tearing of her hair.
Curious how they longed for her
Yet now they hunt her down
To reinforce their dominance
Underneath her tattered gown

Elder of Babylon, you bodied worth is so much more.
Mother of Earth, you’re greater then the title ‘whore’.

I’m sure if your voice, if not eroded, by each passing year.
Could sing a song, of right and wrong, they could not bare to hear.
Of filth and famine, men like Mammon, hating the gender’s king
Each a monster, deep inside them, craving a simple thing.

The lust must of seemed so savage.
For her physique as a possession.
Which she would have lent to thee.
For mere physical possession.
Now deaf ear and blind eye entwine
The murder of some common whore.
As the savages surrounded her
One more loss would she endure.

Wow, that's a beautiful one. It reminds me of some of the college classes I took, and papers I wrote exploring the Victorian compulsion to hate what is most desired.

I also love the fact that it's not just a voice of sympathy, but one of reverence: one that recognizes what she gave (not simply sold or supplied), and the knowledge she no doubt amassed from seeing people in their most vulnerable states. She has fulfilled psychological needs as much as physical ones.

I was thinking of doing that, but felt like putting the picture up of the friends I've lost, the current avatar is one of the photos Jason's mother used in the collages at the viewing. Some day soon though that paper face will be my avatar, it's eyes following you no matter what sides of the screen your sit on.

So, I made a table;

Byproducts of Boredom 101_0981_zps57461b89

It's technical title would be a fluted, coopered, conical, truncated table... but most people call it the ice cream cone table. It's just over 2'7", and weighs about 40lbs, and has been abducted by my mother. I have also gained an even bigger respect for any person who has ever made a barrel, which is crazy difficult to glue together because of the wacky angles.

I'm doing a pay-it-forward artistic little venture, so if anyone is "in" just pop over and state "I'm in", and I'll make something unexpected just for you.
